Objects From Kollmitzberg

Kollmitzberg is an old traditional sacred Celtic site situated in Austria. It overlooks the mighty Danube River, which has been the lifeblood of many Europeans for a long time. As it winds it's way through Europe and when you look south you see the Austrian Alps and in these Alps you find the salt mines, which has been more precious then gold in the early European history.

1. A Red Ochre Stone : The Red Ochre Stone is part of Mother Earth.
There is an Aboriginal Dreamtime story of how the Ochre became red by being stained by the blood of a special Carpet Snake. It was believed that if you harm this snake then the rivers would run dry but one day this giant snake swallowed a young boy and his father hunted the snake and eventually killed it and saved his son. The blood from the snake spread all over part of the earth and stained it red to make Ochre. The Red ochre we now use as body paint for ceremonies and performances and we also use the Ochre with our art to tell stories of creation, survival and hope.

2. A length of Insulated Copper with a clamp and two bolts:
This wire has provided the western world with many magical uses for example it is used to send messages connecting telephones so you can speak words to someone faraway, pictures can also travel along the wire from somewhere to a television set. It can also be used as a fence to keep things locked in; electricity can travel through it to give it power. With power you can do many things from cooking food, keeping warm to lighting the way. With this wire and it's magic there is also hope of a better future.
